event viewer error 2017

If you are using a Windows PC to share files on your network, and you notice that the Event Viewer logs report many errors pertaining to Event ID 2017, then the following steps may fix your problem.

Level: Error

The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations.

Here is the fix:

    • Open up the registry editor on the machine - type "regedit" in the search box on the Start Menu.

    • Navigate through the following series of folders within the registry editor:

    • HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

    • Be sure that you click and highlight the last folder in the series "Memory Management"

    • Look for a registry key named "LargeSystemCache" and double-click to open it

    • Set the key's value to the number "1"

    • Next, navigate to this folder path:

    • HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

    • And be sure the folder "Parameters" is clicked and highlighted

    • Look for a registry key named "Size" and double-click to open it

    • Set the key's value to the number "3"

    • Exit from the registry editor and reboot the computer.
