G1 Phone

In this section, we test drive a few of features of the G1 smartphone.

Some basic details:

    • The G1 phone was the first phone in the U.S. to use the Android operating system.

    • Android is an operating system is currently developed by Google for cellphones - or more accurately, smartphones.

    • The G1 phone is sold through T-Mobile and was manufactured by HTC (High Tech Computer Corp)

    • Several new Android-based phones have been released on T-Mobile since the G1 (MyTouch, Droid, etc.)

    • Version 1.6 of the Android operating system is what is currently available for the G1 phone.

    • Newer Android phones (like the Droid from Verizon) can sport v2.0 of the Android operating system.
